Transmission control for spatial TDMA in wireless radio networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
An attractive alternative for communications in areas in which there is little or no telecommunications infrastructure is to use Multi-hop packet radio networks (MPRNets). One major design issue in MPRNets is the formulation of Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols. Spatial TDMA (S-TDMA) is a “conflict-free” multiple access for MPRNets, which ensures that a packet transmission, whenever made, is successful. High S-TDMA system capacities can be achieved by incorporating traffic load information into the MAC protocol design. Previous investigations into Traffic Controlled S-TDMA (TC S-TDMA) protocols used fixed transmission powers. Clearly, the application of power control to these systems could improve the spatial reuse factor. In this paper a suitable power control scheme has been applied to S-TDMA. As the cost of implementing power control is relatively small, and the performance gains are substantial, a prudent design should include power control. As would be expected the introduction of power control would markedly improved the delay performance of S-TDMA.

متن کاملQuasi Random Deployment Strategy for Reliable Communication Backbones in Wireless Sensor Networks
Topology construction and topology maintenance are significant sub-problems of topology control. Spanning tree based algorithms for topology control are basically transmission range based type construction algorithms. The construction of an effective backbone, however, is indirectly related to the placement of nodes. Also, the dependence of network reliability on the communication path undertak...

T he interest in wireless communications has grown constantly for the past decades, leading to an enormous number of applications and services embraced by billions of users. In order to meet the increasing demand for mobile Internet access, several high data-rate radio networking technologies have been proposed to offer wide area high-speed wireless communications, eventually replacing fixed (w...
متن کاملA Novel Multicast Tree Construction Algorithm for Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks
Many appealing multicast services such as on-demand TV, teleconference, online games and etc. can benefit from high available bandwidth in multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks. When multiple simultaneous transmissions use a similar channel to transmit data packets, network performance degrades to a large extant. Designing a good multicast tree to route data packets could enhance the...
متن کاملVideo Transmission over Cognitive Radio TDMA Networks under Collision Errors
Cognitive Radio (CR) networks are emerging as new paradigm of communication and channels sharing in multimedia and wireless networks. In this paper, we address the problem of video transmission over shared CR networks using progressive compression source coding associated to fountain codes. We consider a TDMA-based transmission where many subscribers share the same infrastructure. Each Secondar...
